Trauma

In his remarks about the Derek Chauvin verdict,  President Biden said that watching the Derek Chauvin trial was “traumatic and exhausting” for so many people. He then said, “It’s a trauma on top of the fear so many people of color live with every day when they go to sleep at night and pray for the safety of themselves and their loved ones.” If, as the context suggests, he meant that people of color live in fear that they will be assaulted or killed by the police, it’s hard to understand why  in the next sentence he said, “most men and women who wear the badge serve their  communities
honorably.” If that is true, why the fear?
