Tomorrow Is Chris Kyle Day
February 1, 2015
I thought I had seen it all when it comes to Americans’ love for all things military. Many have e-mailed to inform me that the governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, has declared February 2 to be Chris Kyle Day in Texas. “We honor our military heroes,” he tweeted on Friday. The governor made the announcement during a speech at a VFW convention. You can read the press release and the governor’s speech here. Naturally, he called Kyle a “hero” and thanked him for his “service.” Included in the speech was this lie of the century: “America is the brightest beacon of freedom the world has ever known for one simple reason – because of you – our veterans, the men and women who put service above self.”
I asked two years ago whether Kyle was a hero or a murderer. Take the two 15-question tests I gave in the article before you answer.
