One of the most fascinating and tumultuous personages in American history was the titan of finance John Pierpont Morgan. As a young boy Morgan was an admirer of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, of his focused determination, sheer will, and audacious genius. These are character traits which equally described Pierpont. While Napoleon can be said to have been the most significant world figure of the early 19th Century, a strong case can be made that Morgan dominated the later half, even into the first decades of the 20th. We continue to live in a post-Morgan world, critically shaped by him and his powerful rival, John D. Rockefeller. It is essential to know about and reflect upon the impact of his legacy.
