As Larry Elder, who is black, points out, the media have done their best to suppress all news of this crime–sucker punching a white or Asian stranger–and to deny that race hatred plays any part. But the latter seems OK to me. Hate crime shouldn’t be a legal category. If someone assaults an innocent person, that’s the crime, not the racial views of the aggressor.
