The Hillsdale Neocon Foreign Policy Interventionism Academy

May 31, 2010

In its quest to become a Midwestern clone of the war-worshipping Claremont Institute, Hillsdale College (whose president, Larry Arnn, is the former executive director of the Claremont Institute) has been advertising on a Baltimore radio station that it is offering special scholarships to students who join the military after graduation.  “The more war the better” should be the motto of the Claremont Institute, and now Hillsdale, apparently.  Proof of this is that in recent years Claremont gave its “statesman of the year award” to Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld.

The old, conservative Hillsdale College was led by a man who understood the old truth that “war is the health of the state,” and that statism is the enemy of liberty and prosperity.  In sharp contrast, the neocons who now run Hillsdale understand that “war is the health of the military-industrial-congressional complex,” and they like it like that.
