The Greatness of Online Education

November 10, 2004

Apropos of Stephan’s comment, I’ve been teaching online courses at the college level for about two years now. I couldn’t be more pleased. They force the students to have discussions about the material, and they make it really easy to direct them to good reading. I’ve linked to LRC, the Mises Institute, and other great sources. It’s so interesting to see, by the end of the semester, the degree to which the engagement they’ve had with the material, which is unavoidable in an online course what with all the discussion, written work, and so on, has opened their eyes to ways of thinking they hadn’t considered before.
