The Fifty Richest Members of Congress
September 27, 2011
The Hill recently released its report on the fifty richest members of Congress. Sen. John Kerry is no longer the richest. That honor now goes to Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) for his $287 million net worth. The rankings include 32 Republicans and 18 Democrats. By chamber, the breakdown is 29 from the House, 21 from the Senate.
This comes as no surprise, of course, since most of the money congressmen spend is not theirs, it is borrowed or taken from U.S. taxpayers.
