The BATFE is having a really bad day!

‘Held: ATF exceeded its statutory authority by issuing a Rule that classifies a bump stock as a “machinegun” under §5845(b).’

SCOTUS ruling on Garland v. Cargill just opined bump stocks are quite legal. The National Firearms Act of 1934 defines a “machinegun” as “any weapon which shoots, is designed to shoot, or can be readily restored to shoot, automatically more than one shot, without manual reloading, by a single function of the trigger.” 26 U. S. C. §5845(b). This also has ramifications for any other device that requires trigger movement in order to fire multiple shots.  Binary triggers and forced reset triggers are going to fall under this ruling.

For those who need a refresher, President Trump commanded the BATFE to ban bump stocks in 2018 when Stephen Paddock committed an act of mass murder at the Route 91 Harvest festival in Las Vegas on October 1, 2017, which claimed the lives of 58 people and left more than 800 injured. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander!  Republicans are only “good” on firearms when they are in the minority.  The 2nd Amendment (and all the rest) is toilet paper once they rule the roost.
