Tax and Spend Republicans

“Federal, state, and local government taxation and spending have significantly increased over the past century, according to a new report by the nonpartisan Tax Foundation,” says the e-mail I just received from the Tax Foundation.

Yet, as I have pointed out several times, we have had more Republicans elected to Congress since Reagan in the 1980s and the “Republican Revolution” of the 1990s than at any time in recent memory. Likewise, we have had more Republicans elected to office on the state and local levels than at any time in recent memory. Republicans even control both the House and Senate and governorship in several states.

Taxation and spending should be decreasing, not increasing. Unless, of course, Republicans lie when they talk about limited government and fiscal conservatism and in reality are no better than Democrats.
