Daniel Ortega, whose Frente Sandinista first came to power with Jimmy Carter’s support in 1979, is running for reelection as president in Nicaragua. Taking a page from Maduro (Venezuela) and Erdogan (Turkey), he has forbidden criticism in the run-up to the elections in November.

Editors, journalists, and owners of all communications media that violate the prohibition will be “admonished” by the government.

Mark Zuckerberg, beware.
