Sherman speaking of his Georgia campaign: “No doubt many acts of pillage, robbery and violence were committed.” Lincoln’s message to Sherman when he reached Savannah: “God bless you and the army under your command.” And the Republican Party proudly calls itself the Party of Lincoln?
