A Real Military Hero

Although most Americans consider murderers like the sniper Chris Kyle to be a hero, and many Americans consider anyone who is or was in the military to be a hero, I disagree. The real military heroes are those who “served; that is, killed for the state and not only regret doing so, but try to keep others from making the same mistake. Here is a recent note I received:

Those of us who were drafted in violation of the 13th Amendment are owed an apology by our government. Reparations doesn’t sound like a bad idea either. I ask God every night in my prayers to forgive me for helping kill 3 million Vietnamese. I wish that I would have had the courage to go to Canada, or, to prison. Unfortunately, this country is so dumbed down by the schools, and, the media that the government can get these idiots to go kill innocent foreigners, willingly. I am saying this as a decorated combat veteran of Vietnam. My government lied, and, many innocent men, women, and, children died. It just keeps happening. May God have mercy on us all. Sincerely, James Lewis

Mr. Lewis has no problem with his name being used and says he takes “every opportunity to try and talk young people out of joining the military.” Now that is a real military hero.
