re: Victory for Free Speech: That “Ron Paul for President” Sign

It’s gratifying to see that at least one man  has succeeded in opposing the totalitarian state’s speech police who tried to get him to take down a “Ron Paul for President” sign on his own property, as Daniel and Ron point out in the blog below.  Can you imagine any politicians doing the same to someone with one of those “I’m Ready for Hillary!” signs?

A bar owner of my acquaintance was not so lucky. When Ron was running for the Republican nomination, a funky little saloon called “Kevro’s Art Bar” in Delray Beach, Florida, which usually has artistic murals covering one entire side of its building, painted over the existing mural and replaced it with “Ron Paul for President.”  It is where the local libertarians gathered to cheer Ron on (and boo and hiss at all the neocons) during the Republican debates that year.  The “Ron Paul for President” mural lasted about a week before the city government sign police threatened them with big fines for lettering that was supposedly too large for their delicate tastes.  (Meanwhile, the same politicians who employ the city government sign police place hundreds of signs all over town every couple of years saying “Vote for ME!”
