Lew: With so many possible names from which to choose, perhaps the GOP could – after many years of his absence – trot out Harold Stassen as a viable candidate. He was the perennial candidate, was he not? THIS TIME FOR SURE! Okay, so Stassen is no longer living, but so what? Many on the list of possible presidential candidates – Democrats as well as Republicans – lost their connection to the life processes long ago. They remind me so much of Dorothy Parker’s response to the news that Calvin Coolidge had died: “how could they tell?”
