re: You Can’t See These Gov’t. Videos

Lew, San Francisco is way behind the times. At least fifteen years ago the campus police at my place of employment, Loyola University Maryland, sent a memo out to everyone announcing that they would no longer issue descriptions of thieves, muggers, and other criminals who committed such crimes on or around campus. That would be racist, they said, since none of the criminals ever seemed to be preppy-looking white guys wearing khakis and long-sleeve button down Oxford dress shirts. (The university is located a couple of blocks from where a woman was stabbed to death while walking her dog last year, and from the high-crime York Road corridor in Baltimore city where students have been mugged and robbed). In doing this the university administrators effectively declared that politically-correct posturing was far more important to them than the safety of the students, faculty, visiting prospective students and their parents, and other employees. I’m sure Loyola is not the only university to have such a policy.
