Subject: Public Choice and Open Borders
Dr. Block, It was an absolute honor meeting you at Mises University this July! I greatly enjoyed our conversations. I am currently in a Macroeconomics class with a heavy focus on public choice. I noticed that the Mises Institute was selling a book called “An Austro-Libertarian Critique of Public Choice” which you and Dr. DiLorenzo wrote, but I cannot seem to find a physical copy of this book now that I’m looking for it (I know there’s a Kindle version, but I am terrible at reading books in electronic format). Do you know of anywhere I can purchase a physical copy of this book? Also, I remember in your AMA that you said the libertarian answer to the border question was the privatization of every square inch of land AND open borders. While I agree with you that we should privatize all land (as we should privatize everything), I am a bit skeptical to the other point of having open borders otherwise. The solution which I support is the mass homesteading of government-controlled land. Classify it as unowned, and allow private entities to homestead it. If you have any articles or suggested reading on why I should support open borders as complimentary to privatized land, I’d greatly appreciate it. I look forward to seeing you in NYC in October!
