Pretty Soon You Run out of Bad Apples
February 5, 2018
When you continually blame something on the action of a few bad apples, pretty soon you run out of bad apples to blame and have to conclude that it is the bad apples that are in the majority. A case in point is the U.S. military. Prostitutes, vacations, cash, bribery, fraud, leaks, feasts, and sex parties: Those are the terms that are needed to describe the biggest scandal U.S. Navy history. It is the good apples that are the minority in the military. Yet, conservative Christians continue to hold the military in such high esteem.
Laurence M. Vance [send him mail] writes from central Florida. He is the author of The Free Society; War, Christianity, and the State: Essays on the Follies of Christian Militarism; War, Empire, and the Military: Essays on the Follies of War and U.S. Foreign Policy; King James, His Bible, and Its Translators, and many other books. His newest book is The U.S. Proxy War in Ukraine.
