What? Pray for Hillary?????

Yesterday I suggested that, “as the candidates head for the finish line, Hillary Clinton is finished. Her candidacy is over. They can’t hide “Hidden Hillary” any more. Sick, tired, and disabled, she deserves our prayers and compassion now, not our ire.”

Well, I got some ire of my own from a fellow Hoosier: “When you start feeling sorry for those who are liars, cheats and murderers, who work every day to destroy our liberty,” he writes, “you have lost the war!!!”

Well, first of all, compassion is a movement of a loving heart to join another brother or sister in their suffering. You don’t have to vote for them. You don’t even have to like them.

And prayer is not a sentiment or a feeling. It is an act of the intellect and will joined together in the desire for the good (not political “success” or “victory”) of another – the **true** good, which in Hillary’s case would admittedly require quite a change in her own heart – but hope springs eternal.

Why bother? Because Christ told us to “pray for our enemies.” The only war that counts, after all, is the one we fight in our hearts against Satan and all his legions. And she’s fighting hers too.

Yes, Hillary might win that war – with our prayers. Satan may have already lost his own battle, but he still wants to win ours.
