The Police-State Clarifies Our Role

If you wish to survive your encounter with cops and others of the State’s bullies, Our Rulers offer some advice as simple as it is ineffective: comply, comply, comply.

For example, “Detective Yuseff Hamm, 49, … a 15-year veteran of the NYPD and president of the Guardians Association, the fraternal organization that represents African-American police officers in the city,” told the New York Post, “[W]e need to teach our children how to interact with police. I tell my 22-year-old son: Be compliant.”

Bill Bratton, Biggest Bigwig at the NYPD who sounds just as he should, i.e., like a thug on the loose from Central Casting, agreed so vehemently that he mentioned Hamm’s ham-fisted propaganda on “Meet the Press”: “A wonderful article today in New York Post by Yuseff Hamm … about the idea of compliance. Whether white or black, when a police officer confronts you, compliance is the best way to deal with that situation.”

Naturally, neither interviewer suggested that these predators might be a tad subjective in their eagerness for cowering serfs.

No paean to the State’s lethal force would be complete without a stanza from “Rudy Giuliani, a former New York City mayor…” He “said during an appearance on CBS’s ‘Face the Nation’ that ‘if I were a black father, and I was concerned with the safety of my child, really concerned about it and not in a politically activist sense, I would say, “Be very respectful of the police. … And just be very careful.”’”

But of course, both Philado Castile and Alton Stirling were complying, and respectfully, carefully so, when cops killed them. So in addition to praising utter servility in the rest of us, Giuliani, Bratton and Hamm also imply that the victims are to blame for their own murders. Did they cop that page from the TSA, or are they evil enough to come up with it themselves?

Remember, folks: kowtow, bow and scrape, knuckle under, and thank the good officer for his abuse when the Goons in Blue assault you. Rudy Giuliani explicitly applies this counsel to blacks; given the contexts, the others presumably do as well. In which case, they perpetuate one of the State’s most self-serving myths: that only black men (and their wives, mothers, girlfriends and children) need fear the police.

These white men and women gainsay that. Cops are the enemy of us all, whatever our color.
