My two cents: Pelosi’s ultimate goal, which she may not reach, is to never bring the impeachment articles to the senate prior to the November election. If Trump is re-elected, but the Democrats gain a majority in the senate, they can then immediately convict him in the senate the day he is sworn in. At that point, they will make political mincemeat out of Pence.
