Panic Inside Cato
August 30, 2012
Over a potential warhawk turn.
UPDATE from Skip Oliva:
I find this Allison-Objectivist takeover thing hilarious. When I worked with some ARI-affiliated Objectivists back in DC many years ago, I was told in no uncertain terms that Cato was the anti-Christ (anti-Rand?) and that to even speak positively of Cato’s work was a betrayal of Objectivist ideals. (The fact I wasn’t actually an Objectivist didn’t register with some of these people.)
But I understand why this is happening. The Objectivists I’ve known desperately crave social respectability. They like being professors or leaders of groups. They’re not “Galt’s Gulch” types at all–since those folks were really Rothbardian anarchists.
