Life in Orwell’s World

The British government plans to “target” and “track” children of criminals to prevent them from following in their parents’ footsteps. Look for the program to expand to cover other children who show “anti-social” tendencies and the US Government to adopt a similar program of special intervention in the lives of children who are identified as “potential” criminals or otherwise “maladjusted” by the Federal Government’s new mental health screeners.
Perhaps the PATRIOT Act’s expansive definition of “terrorist” could be used to justify targeting children of anti-war protesters and other malcontents for special intervention. We wouldn’t want these children to make their parents’ mistake and reject Big Brother’s love would we?
