Less Than 24 Hours

I’ve had my stop-watch going since EgyptAir Flight 804 crashed into the Mediterranean yesterday, timing the TSA’s reflex for exploiting this tragedy. Bingo: this morning, its bigwig, Peter Neffenger, announced, “...[M]ost importantly, it’s a stark reminder that what we do is important. We need to do it well, and we need to do it efficiently.”

Recall that “Officials have yet to determine why EgyptAir Flight 804 disappeared … ” So no one knows whether or not terrorism played a role in this horror–including Neffenger. He even admitted as much: “We still don’t know what happened there.” No reason to postpone capitalizing on it, though, is there, Neffy? Especially when, as even the corporate media notes, your “agency faces criticism for long lines at some major airports.

Meanwhile, here’s the dumbest reason ever for tolerating the inept, invasive, totally unconstitutional bumbling of the TSA: because otherwise you “will undermine the important public union rights that are an integral part of why people become first responders.” That’s right: you should cheerfully wait hours for the TSA’s pervert to grope you because he’s union. I kid you not.
