Is UNC Unique?

My guess is that there are very few, if any, state universities with big football and basketball programs that don’t imitate UNC’s pretend courses for pretend students who read at the 4th grade level, or who can’t read at all.

The answer is the Rockwell Program. These universities should convert their student athletes into openly paid employees, and their programs into minor league teams for the NBA and NFL. I predict just as much interest from alums and fans for truth-telling and perhaps even better games. Oh, and less of a burden for the taxpayers.

A few years ago, a pro-football player was on trial for not paying child support. His pro career was over, and he had spent all his money, he told the judge. Well, you have to get some other kind of job, said the judge. I can’t, said the player. I can’t read or write. But you were at [SEC] University for four years! How could this happen? When you’re on the football team, said the player, you don’t have to attend classes.
