The American media tell us more about Russia, China, and the North Pole than they do about Mexico, where every house is surrounded by a wall topped with barbed wire. Hail a taxi on the street? Kidnapped for ransom. Confronted by police – for any reason? Have ready cash for bribes. Start a business? Pay protection to gang(s), mayor, police chief.
