If “Washington REDskins” is Offensive . . .

. . . why isn’t BLACK Lives Matter just as offensive?  Whatever happened to “African-American” and “People of Color”?  There are more names that I’ve been instructed to use in reference to black people during my lifetime but I can’t remember them all.  (A friend recently told me that her eleven-year-old grandson, who goes to a Catholic school, lectured her about the inappropriateness of referring to black people as black people even though it’s apparently OK with Black Lives Matter.  Go figure).

UPDATE:  Roger Y. writes to remind me that the National Association for the Advancement of COLORED People is still around.

Speaking of which, why isn’t it offensive to suggest that “colored” people need “advancement” but not anyone else?
