Although I am certainly glad to see them, I have mixed feelings about these pictures of members of the U.S. military holding up signs saying that they didn’t join the military to fight in Syria. Here is one example:
Why then did you join? To fight in Iraq? To fight in Afghanistan? I hope not. We had no business going to those countries just like we have no business going to Syria. In view of the fact that no war has been declared since World War II, yet the U.S. military has been busy ever since all around the world, what did you think you were going to be told to do once you joined the military? I hope that the guys holding up these signs see the light, so to speak, and don’t see the point of fighting any foreign war, not just in Syria. But if not, at least this is a start.
