I Feel Much Less Safe and Less Free . . .
July 6, 2021
. . . now that U.S. troops are leaving Afghanistan after a twenty year quagmire. (If you believe that, I’ve got some oceanfront property in Arizona I’d like to sell you).
Older readers may remember how Cheney and all the other neocons lost it and became apoplectic twenty years ago whenever someone in the media even mentioned the word “quagmire.” And how Cheney personally fired the president’s top economic advisor, Larry Lindsey, after he said that the war could cost $65 billion? (The bill so far is reportedly a couple trillion. Not to mention the future billions in healthcare costs for all the maimed veterans who lost arms and legs and other body parts –and their sanity — FOR NOTHING).
