How the American Left Has Abandoned Hamilton and Embraced Marx and Lenin

August 6, 2021

Out of the frying pan, into the fire.  During the Reagan administration the late William Niskanen, who was on the President’s Council of Economic Advisors, caused a giant sh*t storm in D.C. when he testified at a congressional hearing that, in his opinion, most of what the federal government spent money on was unconstitutional.  The Left went nuts, outraged that Niskanen ignored how they had spent the previous half century sabotaging all constitutional limits on federal powers by de facto “amending” the constitution through case law.  As Judge Napolitano wrote in The Constitution in Exile, not a single federal law was ruled unconstitutional by the Supreme Court from 1936 to 1995.

This was Alexander Hamilton’s constitution, such as it is.  After the Constitution was ratified Hamilton condemned it as “a frail and worthless fabric” because it did not essentially establish a roadmap for the constitutional rubber stamping of unlimited federal power.  He smeared Jefferson and his theory of strict construction of the Constitution as “symptoms of a pygmy mind.”   He spent the rest of his life constructing that roadmap of constitutional subersion with elaborate and dishonest theories about “implied powers” hidden in the constitution, the lie that the states that delegated powers to the central government to act as their agent were not sovereign, the lie that the interstate commerce clause of the constitution provides the authority for unlimited government regulation of all commerce, and more.

The next several generations of Hamiltonian statists used this lawyerly subterfuge in the courts and in politics to create the massively-corrupt welfare/warfare state that we taxpayers all slave under, confiscating one-third to one-half of all income and regulating, regimenting, and controlling almost all other areas of economic life and beyond, making America more than half socialist.

Such Hamiltonian bloat is never enough for totalitarians, of course, because there are still pockets of freedom hanging by a thread as the vestiges of constitutional liberty.  We are still armed and platforms such as LewRockwell.com have not yet been censored, for example.  The position of today’s Left is that all such freedoms must be destroyed.  They no longer play the game of citing perverted constitutional case law.  They condemn the constitution as a whole as a racist document written by racist slave owners and they intend to fully ignore it.  They are in control of all of the weaponry of the federal government, and they will use it if we stand in their way on the road to totalitarianism, the constitution be damned.

Senile Joe made this perfectly clear two days ago when he publicly stated that yes, the Supreme Court has recently ruled that the bureaucrats at the CDC have no legal authority to mandate the outlawing of the eviction of renters for not paying rent.  It is illegal and unconstitutional, he said, but “we” are “going to do it anyway and see what happens.”

The Hamiltonian constitution has been thrown under the bus and in its place are the policies and practices of Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Mao, and all other totalitarian communist idols of today’s American Left.  The only question is how long the senile, demented, perpetually-confused and tongue-tied puppet who illegitimately occupies the White House will be the official spokesman for the new totalitarian communist regime in Washington.
