Hillary Clinton is complaining that the news media is giving Obama more coverage than her of late, and raises the vacuous lament of “unfairness.” I don’t recall her raising this objection to the mainstream media’s traditional role as herdsmen of the opinions the established order has selected for public absorption. In fact, it would seem to be an expression of her long-held view that there ought to be a “gatekeeper” of the ideas and information people should be allowed to put out into such public venues as the Internet.
