“Edward Snowden issues ‘call to arms’ for tech companies … to foil spying with better privacy tools.” Absolutely! As those bozos on Capitol Hill dither over how much to increase the NSA’s espionage against us, Heroic Ed continues to exploit the amazing brain God gave him. The State and its evil spawned the NSA; how irrational to look to that same government for restraints on the spooks. No, Mr. Hero goes to the tech companies and inspires them to build NSA-proof telecommunications.
Meanwhile, savor these quotes from our champ, all delivered during the address in which he “issue[d his] ‘call to arms'”:
[regarding the NSA’s prurient interest in online sexual activities] “How does using porn habits to discredit people make us much different than [the] Turkish government? We need to maintain moral leadership.” Whoa!!!! I don’t know whether to cheer such idealism and principle or remind Mr. Hero that politicians and bureaucrats spell “moral leadership” P-O-W-E-R.
[regarding whether he’d “do it again”] “I have gained so much. I have the ability to contribute in a much more meaningful way. I really got the sense that I’m helping to improve lives. It gives me a reason to get up in the morning. And that’s something that you can’t get from almost anything other than maintaining a guiding principle that you believe in very strongly.” Yes!!!!
And a note to all you wannabee heroes out there, who tragically, mistakenly consider cops, soldiers, and others of the State’s bullies “good guys” and aspire to join them: if you really hope to make a difference, if you really want your life to count for something, take a lesson from Heroic Ed.
