Great July 4th Movie

June 28, 2016

I continue to be amazed at the number of libertarians who tell me that they have never seen – and many of them never heard of – perhaps the greatest libertarian motion picture ever. Shenandoah came out in 1965, with Jimmy Stewart as the head of a Virginia family during the Civil War. Their opposition to war, statism, as well as an insistence upon respect for private property, hangs together throughout. It is a great film to show on July 4th – so much better than the John Wayne war-whooping that will fill the movie channels.
