Good for Tim Walz
August 12, 2024
J.D. Vance has been criticizing Tim Walz for not going to fight in Iraq like he did. Said Vance: “When the United State Marine Corps, when the United States of America asked me to go to Iraq to serve my country, I did it.” He also said: “I did what they asked me to do, and I did it honorably and I’m very proud of that service.” As much as a loathe Tim Walz, I say good for him. Vance should have done the honorable thing and refused to go fight in Iraq. He was not serving his country by going to Iraq and he should not be proud of his service. And likewise for Tulsi Gabbard.
Laurence M. Vance [send him mail] writes from central Florida. He is the author of The Free Society; War, Christianity, and the State: Essays on the Follies of Christian Militarism; War, Empire, and the Military: Essays on the Follies of War and U.S. Foreign Policy; King James, His Bible, and Its Translators, and many other books. His newest book is The U.S. Proxy War in Ukraine.
