The Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). So says the insert that came in my water bill. The requirement for the credit? “Were you employed at least one day last year?” I ask a more important question here: “Tax Credit or Income Transfer?” And by the way, even illegal immigrants who didn’t pay taxes will be able to apply for back-credits once they get Social Security numbers. The refundable portion of the EITC must be eliminated.
