Uh-oh.
Bad news for all readers of LRC: Rachel Dolezal, the insanely confused—or pathologically deceptive—white woman who pretends she’s black apparently reads this site. I know: we like to think of ourselves as brilliant, discerning intellectuals who savor Truth and real Justice, champions of common sense and free enterprise. So it’s a blow to realize an utter imbecile such as Rach haunts our site.
But what other conclusion can we draw? Almost two years ago, when Rach first hit the headlines, I asked vis-à-vis the uproar “why the loony bin that is Progressivism says it’s perfectly OK for a man to pretend he’s a woman but not for a Caucasian to pretend she’s black.” And bingo, courtesy of Bill Martin, we learn that Rach is now asking the same thing (I never said she’s a daily reader of LRC. Obviously, it took her a while to plumb the archives, and no wonder: given her other issues, Rach’s lips no doubt move while she reads): “Dolezal, 39, claimed that ethnicity is not biological and compared being ‘transracial’ to being transgender in an interview with BBC’s Newsnight on Monday.”
This has stirred all-too-easily angered Progressives to new heights of outrage, tedious debates about “appropriation” and whether “the idea of being ‘transracial’ was ‘only available to white people,’” and—of course, this being the Left—contempt for Rach. Nonetheless, her question deserves an answer from this nut-cake of a philosophy (yep, I’m dignifying Progressivism way too much with that word): “…gender is not binary. It’s not even biological. But what strikes me as so odd is that race isn’t biological either. And actually race has been to some extent less biological than gender, if you really think about history and our bodies. There isn’t, like, white blood and black blood.”
See? Even Rach in her lunacy proves that all you need to combat the left’s silliness is a speck of common sense.
