Facilitating Evil

Today is primary election day in my state of Florida. While taking my son to school this morning, I noticed that a large, conservative, evangelical church is being used as a polling place. This, unfortunately, is a common practice throughout the country. But consider this. All conservative churches I know of think it is a great evil for people to vote for Democrats. After all, Democrats generally support abortion, gay marriage, the welfare state, transgender restroom “rights,” and other great evils. So why facilitate people voting for Democrats? And why let the state into your church? Oh, some Christians say, but if my church wasn’t used as a polling place then these people would just vote for Democrats at some other polling place so what does it matter? Well, if they will vote for Democrats anyway (which conservative Christians say is evil), then why facilitate evil by letting the state use your church as a polling place? See my article “Why Churches Shouldn’t Be Used As Polling Places.”

I won’t be going to the church I saw to vote. Although it would be my polling place, I don’t vote. I will give you just one reason why. Voting for the lesser of two evils is still evil, and the Bible says: “Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil” (Exodus 23:2).
