re: DOMA

Writes Mark Higdon:
I do not lament its overturning today. That is matter of minor import, next to the consequences likely to follow. Think this coming Aug. 1, and the HHS “Obamacare” mandates about to become binding on religiously affiliated institutions, following the one-year “grace period.”
Specifically, I cite the president’s promise, today, that he will not force churches to perform gay weddings. Coming from him, that is a virtual iron-clad guarantee that the Obama DOJ will attempt to do exactly what he has disclaimed.
I predict the first related federal case in no more than three months: most likely against a Catholic parish or diocese.
