Do We Live in a Totalitarian Dictatorship?

Sometimes it seems like it. Especially if you like to smoke Camel Bold Crush, Vantage Tech 13, or the regular or menthol versions of Pall Mall Deep Set Recessed Filter cigarettes. The FDA has ordered the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company to stop selling these four products because the company “failed to prove the cigarettes were no more dangerous than brands that have been on the market longer.” But why should the company have to prove anything to a bunch of government bureaucrats? And what is the FDA doing regulating tobacco to begin with? And it’s not just the government that likes to wage war on tobacco. A jury in my old home of Pensacola just awarded $34 million to the family of a man who died of lung cancer 15 years after he quit smoking R.J. Reynolds products.

Did the murderous Stalin or Mao ever concern themselves with the cigarettes their peasants smoked?

Oh, and see my article “Tobacco and a Free Society.”
