Has the Dictionary Been Updated?
November 6, 2015
While checking out at the grocery store this morning I was asked if I wanted to contribute a dollar toward our heroes. No mention was even made of the military, although that is exactly what the cashier was referring to. Has the dictionary been updated? What about Roget’s Thesaurus? “Hero” is now apparently a synonym for “soldier.” But as I have written about scores of times, just being a soldier doesn’t make you a hero. And doing something brave in an unjust and immoral war doesn’t make you a hero either.
