Dictatorial Pygmies and Peons in a Democracy

“[T]he power which a . . . millionaire, who may be my neighbor and perhaps my employer, has over me is very much less than that which the smallest fonctionnaire possesses who wields the coercive power of the state and on whose discretion it depends whether and how I  am to be allowed to live or to work . . .”

F.A. Hayek, The Road to Serfdom, p. 104.

Among Hayek’s “fonctionnaires” I would include Phony Fauci and the entire “public health” establishment and nearly every governor, state legislator, mayor, city councilman, and cop in America who conspired to coerce lockdowns and mask mandates.  Every single one of them is a proven totalitarian.  This goes for almost all members of Congress as well.
