What a Colossal Waste of Time and Effort
February 26, 2018
The Florida House of Representatives just overwhelmingly passed a bill (97-10) requiring all public schools to prominently display the nation’s motto, “In God We Trust,” somewhere on campus. Lawmakers reasoned that “introducing and welcoming God into the school environment would combat the causes of mass shootings and other tragedies.” What a colossal waste of time and effort. School shooters will pay no more attention to this than they will gun control laws and laws against murder. And why do people assume that God would want to be in a public school environment in the first place? The public schools should be shuttered.
