Binoy Kampmark and “Neoconservatism”

Today’s LRC frontpage features Binoy Kampmark’s debunking of the conventional wisdom on Ukraine.  But definitely also see his “The First Neo-conservative: James Burnham and the Origins of a Movement” if you have access to a university library and can get past the JSTOR wall (or skillfully hunt down a stray .pdf file of the article via search engine).  Dr. Kampmark proved that “neoconservatism” IS conservatism, and that the ghost of Trotsky was not only cheerfully welcomed at the founding of National Review in 1955 but influential both at the magazine and in the movement started by the magazine for many years afterward.
