American Christians Urge Young Women to Join the Military
February 8, 2015
In Israel. The Friends of Israel, a Christian ministry that I like in some ways but that I sometimes call the Friends of the IDF, thinks it is a great thing if young Jewish women in the United States leave the country and go to Israel and join the Israel Defense Forces (IDF). There is a glowing article in the January/February issue of the organization’s magazine about two sisters from New Jersey who did just that. It wasn’t that long ago that most conservative Christians—no matter what they thought of U.S. foreign policy—denounced women joining the military.
