Afghan War Veterans Still Fighting
September 19, 2015
To keep themselves and their comrades from committing suicide. Stay out of the military. Even if you make it back from fighting a senseless foreign war in one piece, you may fight demons the rest of your life: drugs, alcohol, PTSD, depression, broken family, and thoughts of suicide.
A reader posits a simple question for the veterans who fight these demons and the Christians who support them:
“If the wars that you engage in are moral and just according to your belief in God and faith in Jesus Christ why then do you wrestle with all of these maladies? It seems to me that if in fact your wars are just and moral you should feel good about yourself. Your conscience should be clear because what you did was just. The fact that you suffer from mental illness of any kind as a result of your ‘service’ should signal to you that what you did was wrong.”
