Adopt a Chaplain

The “Adopt a Chaplain” Christian ministry is “the only national charity that exclusively serves deployed chaplains.” For a gift of $30 one can adopt a chaplain by supplying a care package. The most frequently requested items by chaplains are energy bars and power bars, beef jerky, Crystal Light and powder mixes, individually wrapped candies, hotel-size toiletries, chapstick, sunscreen, feminine products, shoe insoles, and GoldBond powder.
My problem with all this? Here is the “Adopt a Chaplain” motto: “Supporting Our Troops Through the Chaplains that Serve Them.” I don’t believe that our troops should be supported or served. I do believe that our troops should come home as soon as possible. I would only support a chaplain who preached the unjustness of our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
