A sticky situation from an “efficient” California police department

This video news story reports how police in Rocklin are placing sticky notes on citizens’ personal property as friendly warnings that the property in question may be vulnerable to a crime (e.g., a purse left in a car, a garage door left open, etc.).
The only problem with this police department “courtesy” is that a criminal can also spot the sticky note and, therefore, is alerted by the note of a good opportunity for him to commit the crime that the sticky note is trying to prevent. Duh.
