A Restaurant With Liberty on the Menu

C. Jay Engel hopes to drum up some business for a very deserving pair of brothers:

A few towns over from Placerville, where I live in Granite Bay, CA there’s a fantastic upscale bistro and wine lounge called The House of Oliver. Sacramento-area readers should also support it. [The bistro’s proprietors] told a “health inspector” (sic for county-level state snitch) that all their unmasked customers have medical exemptions and that he could go pound sand. It is owned by a pair of fiercely non-compliant brothers, one of which started a church as well and is housing congregants from the area whose pastors were tripping over themselves to obey Newsom’s unenforceable edicts regarding “houses of worship.”

Here is their just-released special menu in response to Newsom’s statement that bars must be closed, defined loosely as any place that had drinks-only menus. So at House of Oliver you can order a beverage and a snack: pay for the snack, get the beverage, and hold the snack.

The Newsom Ballless Bahn Mi Sliders

-Asian chicken meatballs, shredded carrots, cilantro, jalapeño, cucumber, garnished with garlic butter on 4 soft rolls in a pipping hot skillet. Served carb style: no balls, no carrots, no cilantro, no jalapeño or cucumber.

The “Gavin Chicken” Club Carb Special

-Thick layers of spineless chicken

with juicy slices of tomato, avocado, bacon and a House mayo on thin slices of lightly toasted bread. Carb special served without chicken, tomato, avocado, bacon or house mayo.
