1950’s Culture War
September 7, 2013
While Fred Reed’s nostalgic reminiscing on the cultural milieu of his youth in the 1950s is very engaging, there are other more in-depth perspectives and analyses of what was happening in the wider American society at that time LRC readers may wish to also explore. Two highly recommended sources are volume 1 of the landmark PBS series, Making Sense of the Sixties, entitled Seeds of the Sixties; and David Halberstam’s definitive The Fifties, in both book and video format. Unfortunately neither title is available in DVD.
