The ‘Golden Age’ is not looking very golden, unless you happen to own actual gold. Government debts and deficits are increasing, Americans are paying 86% of the tariffs (according to Goldman Sachs), and The Fed is expected to crank up the printing presses by lowering interest rates, which will further increase the prices that American consumers pay for goods and services.

Suddenly, the man universally beloved by nearly everyone for his sterling integrity, his devotion to God and family, his indominable patriotism and deep devotion to his country, celebrated, honored and admired, championed from coast-to-coast for his legendary quick wit and adroit speaking ability, is dead – the shocking result of a devastating tragedy which left the nation devastated with deep grief and wrenching uncertainty towards the future. Will the great heroic youth movement he created survive? Will America survive the chaotic loss of his bizarre passing?

Keeper of the Flame is a 1943 Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) drama directed by George Cukor, and starring Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn. I consider it one of their best films together, and one of my favorites from this golden age of cinema.

The screenplay by Donald Ogden Stewart (noted Hollywood Communist Party member) is adapted from the novel Keeper of the Flame by I. A. R. Wylie. Stewart considered the script to be the finest moment of his entire career, feeling vindicated by the assignment as he believed that Hollywood had punished him for years for his Stalinist political views.

The film was screened for the Office of War Information’s Bureau of Motion Pictures on December 2, 1942, where it was disapproved of by the Bureau’s chief, Lowell Mellett. Keeper of the Flame premiered to a poor reception at Radio City Music Hall on Thursday, March 18, 1943. MGM head Louis B. Mayer stormed out of the cinema, enraged by his having encouraged the making of a film which equated wealth with fascism. Republican members of Congress complained about the film’s obviously leftist politics, and demanded that Will H. Hays, President of the Motion Picture Production Code, establish motion picture industry guidelines for propaganda. Cukor himself was highly dissatisfied by the film and considered it one of his poorest efforts.

Nonetheless, today the film is seen more positively, with one critic concluding that Keeper of the Flame is “truly provocative in that it was one of Hollywood’s few forays into imagining the possibility of homegrown American Fascism and the crucial damage which can be done to individual rights when inhumane and tyrannical ideas sweep a society through a charismatic leader.”

Keeper of the Flame is not Donald Trump’s favorite movie.

There was, however, actual fascist intrigue and subversive plots against the government afoot during this time.

Researchers from the Henry Ford Health System in Michigan found that vaccinated children were more likely to develop a chronic health condition, but never published the findings, according to a copy of the study obtained by The Epoch Times.

Dr. Marcus Zervos, an infectious disease specialist at the Henry Ford Health, and colleagues studied 18,468 children born between 2000 and 2016 who were enrolled in the health system’s insurance plan, drawing data from medical, clinical, and payer records and supplementing with information from Michigan’s immunization registry.

After 10 years, 57 percent of the vaccinated children had a chronic health condition such as asthma, compared to just 17 percent of the unvaccinated children.

“This study found that exposure to vaccination was independently associated with an overall 2.5-fold increase in the likelihood of developing a chronic health condition, when compared to children unexposed to vaccination,” the authors wrote.

“This association was primarily driven by asthma, atopic disease, eczema, autoimmune disease and neurodevelopmental disorders. This suggests that in certain children, exposure to vaccination may increase the likelihood of developing a chronic health condition, particularly for one of these conditions.”

Lawyer Robert Barnes reflects on the life of Turning Point founder Charlie Kirk and how his assassination is sparking discussion on political violence.

“I followed Charlie throughout his entire career … started out as sort of a normie conservative,” Mr Barnes told Sky News host James Morrow. “He was very accessible, he would do favours for friends … he’d do it for free all the time.”

III. Closing Argument: The Political Permission Slip for the Criminally Insane (Robert Barnes)

• Bloody Kansas. The turn of the century, a time when anarchy equated violence. The KKK’s notorious role post Civil War, then again at the turn of the century, returning to haunt America in the 1920s before being exposed, and then returning to harass civil rights petitioners in the 1950s and 1960s. And now today, when members of the woke left celebrate and cheer the assassination of Charlie Kirk. All founded on the acts of the criminally insane, but flourished when given a political permission slip by institutional actors within the broader culture and community.
• Any study of the history of such violence outbreaks will find the true cause of criminal depravity in the broken minds and stolen souls of the evil-occupied, mentally ill, minds long since divorced from reality as much as their souls divorce from humanity. But their fevered dreams of sick, twisted violent fantasies need a political permission slip from powerful actors in the broader community to convert such dark fantasies into a terrible reality for the rest of the culture.
• Consider the Klan. Their rise and fall didn’t come and go with a rise and decline of criminally ill minds and corroded souls in the broader society; those individuals just didn’t find the freedom in the broader culture to act out their sick fantasies or get directed to express them in violent exhibition during the declining eras of Klan violence, that rose and receded with the political permission slips afforded them, the political protection extended them, and the political patronage provided them. The Klan rose and fell directly proportional to the degree of cultural applause and institutional support they received. There’s a reason so many Islamic terrorists recruit from prisons rather than mosques.  The criminal rap sheet of Klansman, Antifa, communist and fascists alike express in explosions of politicized violence in the last century plus only when blessed by the political high priests of their common culture.
• To deter, we need to remember the Amish learned custom of shunning. The Bann, as they call it, excludes from the community life those who commit the most serious of moral offenses against the Ordnung, the Amish community rules. This conforms to the known utility, when used appropriately, of shunning. Shunning shames the bad actor for their actions, triggers empathy for those victimized by the person being shamed, and motivates correction and better empathy in the broader public. it puts a price on those trying to give political permission slips to the criminally insane to make them as guilty of solicitation, invitation, and accomplices to their moral horrors they politically permit.
• We need such shunning of all those who reward, welcome, embrace, encourage, promote or defend the political permission slip given psychopaths to engage in politicized violence against disfavored dissidents. Shame can enable humility, expand empathy, and heal the community from the pain inflicted by its bad actors, just as it can tie the community together to promote and protect the best of its virtues and values.
• Time to shame again, to restore the better angels of our nature in our civilized society. Debate, discussion, dialogue in civil and civic engagement without resort to violence remains a calling card of Dr. King, Gandhi and Charlie Kirk alike, and we recognize, respect, and reward their legacy by continuing that fine American tradition, trusting in the quality of arguments and the sincerity of the advocate not the tools of violence, as violence remains the worst form of censorship that exists. Saying no to politicized violence says no to censorship, and says yes to the legacy and life of Charlie Kirk, and those whose founding steps he followed.

1968 – The Year That Shaped a Generation (Outstanding Documentary Illustrating Many Turbulent Parallels to Today)

This is a documentary posted specifically for those persons not alive in the chaotic turbulent year of 1968.

In 2025, we have yesterday experienced the wrenching tragedy of the assassination of the brilliant, adroit young conservative influencer/spokesman Charlie Kirk in the midst of this chaotic, indecisive era defined by the complex, towering man who will continue to define and shape this time more than any previous political person on the world stage, Donald J. Trump.

III. Closing Argument: Remembering Charlie (Robert Barnes)

• On discovery his friend Martin Luther King had been assassinated, Robert Francis Kennedy took to the platform to inform the audience and try to redirect their rightful anger toward a more productive path. While much of the country rioted, the place RFK spoke — Indianapolis – was one of the few that did not. Here is what RFK spoke:
• “What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence or lawlessness, but is love and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice towards those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black. We must dedicate ourselves to what the Greeks wrote so many years ago: to tame the savageness of man and to make gentle the life of this world.”
• We would all be wise to remember these sage thoughts today in honoring and respecting the legacy of Charlie Kirk, a man dedicated to freedom, truth, family, country, and God, a faith worthy of continuing his legacy rather than letting it rot at the hand of an assassin. Let us indeed work “to tame the savageness of man and to make gentle the life of this world.” Let us be more like Charlie and listen to the better angels of our nature.

The crime in Charlotte was breathtakingly horrific. Almost unimaginable.

But to the battalions of right wingers out there with their race-based crime charts, pointing the fingers and hooting about “the Blacks” and “Black fatigue,” etc. here’s a clue: The real villain in this whole thing is the State.

It was the State, starting well before the “Great Society” nonsense, that sought to intervene in the lives of American Blacks to “bring them up” to “our” level.

And “fight racism,” of course.

They only succeeded in destroying the one thing that actually helped bring Black people out of poverty and despair: Black Families.

Just as it was the state that passed the “Jim Crow” laws in the first place, when the State decided to clean up its act and make amends, it only succeeded in making matters worse.

The white “do-gooders” who substituted the State for the Black father through welfare and all manner of state-intervention have blood on their hands.

You like statistics? Have a look at how many Black kids grow up with Uncle Sam as their surrogate father.

And it’s easy to blame white liberals for the mayhem the State has unleashed on Black people for the past 70 or so years. But conservatives did next to nothing to make a coherent argument against the State interfering in our families. In fact they have been all for it.

The thug who killed that beautiful young woman should pay dearly for his crime. But the real hand on the knife was the State.

The good doctor here affirms something I learned through my experiences decades ago with mainstream medicine — they are only interested in symptom management via pharmaceuticals as a means of recurring income streams. Your actual health as measured by understanding the root of why your body is behaving the way it is, usually because of nutrient or lifestyle choices either is not understood or honestly doesn’t matter to them. Your body is a system that responds to chemicals that creates desired outcomes. The mainstream medical community is a service that dispenses those chemicals in order to make an income. You are not seen as a person, let alone an individual that has a slightly different physiology than the next person, with different issues, concerns, and needs.

I think most LRC readers won’t be surprised at all by this. The FDA’s funding model is the veritable definition of fraud and captured. Forbes puts this at about 75% of the budget is from pharmaceutical companies via the PDUFA Act. How can yours and my bests interests be at heart at the FDA? It’s not possible.

Nigel Farage reportedly plans to overhaul rules governing City of London that were introduced after 2008 financial crash

Nigel Farage could strip the City watchdog of its power to regulate the banking industry under a sweeping overhaul to undo changes made after the 2008 financial crisis if Reform UK was elected to government.

The leader of the party at the top of opinion polls has said he wants to prepare for the potential for an early general election in 2027.

A metals trader before entering politics, Farage has told allies that a Reform UK government would sweep away rules governing the City of London as a priority to boost economic growth, the Financial Times reported.

This would include stripping the Financial Conduct Authority of its role in regulating banks, with control handed instead to the Bank of England. “Nigel thinks the FCA is a disaster and banking regulation needs to go back to the Bank of England,” a source close to Farage told the paper.

Such a development would reverse changes introduced by the former Conservative chancellor George Osborne to strengthen consumer protection and increase financial stability after the worst banking crash of the postwar era.

Under the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition, the Financial Services Authority was abolished and its powers to handle financial stability issues was handed to the Bank of England, while the FCA was created to oversee industry conduct and consumer protection.

Farage has been a prominent critic of Britain’s biggest banks after the debanking scandal involving NatWest Group’s Coutts private bank, which closed his account in 2023.

After looking into the scandal the FCA ordered UK banks to treat politicians more fairly, but drew fierce criticism from Farage after it said it had found no evidence of customers’ accounts being closed because of their political views.

Reform UK, whose party conference got under way on Friday, has previously promised to sweep away City rules and cut taxes to help bolster the development of the cryptocurrency sector in the UK. It also said it would accept donations in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

Crypto companies are heavily involved in the party’s conference at the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre Reform UK’s efficiency chief, Zia Yusuf, is hosting a session with Stani Kulechov, the Finnish founder of a company called Aave Labs. The crypto startup Zebec Technologies is a sponsor.

Businesses engaged in gold trading are also exhibitors at the event, including Direction Bullion, which has one of the biggest stands at the conference. Farage was reported last year to be a paid brand ambassador for the company.

Reform UK has been approached for comment.

The “Special Relationship” and The Empire of the City

I don’t even know where to start with Lex Fridman’s 10 hour interview with Scott Horton. All I can really say is that if you’re a foreign policy geek and you have followed or been aware of U.S. military interventions since the end of the cold war, you honestly have to listen to this. Scott rambles off the top of his head the whole time. It’s absolutely incredible! I can honestly say that he is the most underrated policy wonk in probably the history of our country.

From Neocons to Afghanistan, to Israel, Syria, Iraq, Iran and everything in between, Scott just runs wild with it all.

I frequently talk about the Wolfowitz Doctrine — the Neocon “new world order” US-is-the-king-of-the-world policy since the end of the cold war. What I didn’t know is that the Neocons were also helping to implement Israel’s own Yinon Plan. Just from the standpoint of the Neocon to Israel connection, Scott’s take on why we always do Israel’s bidding even though it isn’t in our country’s interests to do so comes full circle.

He has every footnote, every article, and every source to back it all up. He’s literally a walking encyclopedia and we’re all not worthy.

I get it. This isn’t a 5 minute easily consumable 3×5 card. It’s not for everyone. But damn, this is THE rabbit hole! This is the “red pill.” It is time well spent.

Throughout all of human history, central planning has a perfect 100% failure rate. Yet, there is never a shortage of central planners. Even America, which began with a very limited government, has morphed into a web of planners, and agencies, and red tape, and unelected bureaucrats galore. Prices are manipulated to such an extreme degree that rational decision-making and investment become near impossible. Forget consumers. The goal is to get in charge of the state, and force your will onto everyone else. Berlin wrote the song on his way back to America after attending the London premiere (September 30, 1938) of his film Alexander’s Ragtime Band. Introduced by Kate Smith on her CBS radio show, The Kate Smith Hour, on November 10, 1938. Smith premiered the song late in the show and prefaced it with the following words: “And now it’s going to be my very great privilege to sing for you a song that’s never been sung before by anybody. One that was written especially for me by one of the greatest composers in the music field today. It’s something more than a song – I feel it’s one of the most beautiful compositions ever written, a song that will never die. The author –  Mr. Irving Berlin. The title – ‘God Bless America.'”

Berlin described how he wrote “God Bless America” in a letter of July 19, 1954, to Abel Green, editor of Variety: “I wrote ‘God Bless America’ at Camp Upton in 1918 to be the finale of Yip, Yip, Yaphank. As you may remember, the show opened on August 19th at the Old Century Theater. The finale – the boys were alerted in the scene before that they were going overseas, and in overseas outfits, including helmets, they marched through the Theater, went out to the street and backstage where they boarded a transport, and as the lights lowered, the transport, on wheel, slowly moved off stage. It was a very touching and emotional scene. As I remember, the song they sang was ‘In the Y.M.C.A.’ as the curtain came down. Having that finale in mind, it seemed painting the lily to have soldiers sing ‘God Bless America’ in that situation, so I didn’t use it. Of course, I always had it in back of my mind to use someday on the right occasion. That occasion came after I returned from London in 1938 where I had gone to see the opening of Alexander’s Ragtime Band, the picture. I was there during Chamberlain’s visit to Hitler and the beginning of the Munich pact. On my way back, I tried to write a song that I felt at that time. I remember finishing a chorus of a song called ‘Thanks America’ which I tore up because it was very bad. It seemed a bad editorial set to music. I then recalled ‘God Bless America’ and rewrote it. I underline rewrote because that is a very important part of the story of ‘God Bless America.’ “

“The original version was as follows: ‘God Bless America /  land that I love / Stand beside her / And guide her /To the right with a light from above / Make her victorious on land and foam / God Bless America, my home sweet home.’ It is obvious that the word ‘right’ had to be changed because in 1918 “guide her to the right” meant the right road. In 1938, there was a right and a left and it had a different significance. So in changing it the song was improved when I said ‘stand beside her and guide her, thru the night with a light from above.’ Then again, in 1918 it was written as a war song, which the phrase ‘make her victorious on land and foam’ indicates. In 1938, I didn’t want it to be a war song. I wanted it to be a song of peace. On Armistice Day, 1938, I spoke to Ted Collins [Smith’s manager] and he wanted a song for Kate Smith to sing on that program, where she introduced it.”

Over the years Berlin and his longtime friend and onetime (1918) musical secretary, songwriter Harry Ruby, frequently exchanged humorous letters. On October 26, 1971, Berlin wrote to Ruby about “God Bless America” as follows: “I was interviewed a few weeks ago about ‘God Bless America,’ and one of the questions was, ‘Is it true that Harry Ruby helped you keep it away from the public for twenty years?’ That came out of left field, but he evidently read it somewhere and, Harry, as an old friend, I defended you. I told him that the one and only time I played and sang it was at a rehearsal where you were present. The reaction from the boys was a thunderous silence and that you, as a civilian, were the only one who stood up and saluted. Seriously, Harry, I told the interviewer the simple facts – that the song was never taken down, that I did let the boys hear it and decided that 350 soldiers in overseas outfits marching down the aisle of the Century Theater going off to war, singing ‘God Bless America,’ was wrong. So, as you will remember, I replaced it with a little thing called ‘We’re On Our Way To France.’ If the late Ted Collins, who was Kate Smith’s manager, hadn’t come to me in 1938 for a patriotic song to be sung by her on Armistice Day, I’m afraid ‘God Bless America’ would still be a war song, unpublished and unsung.”

The response to “God Bless America” was overwhelmingly positive. It received enormous attention in the press and from the public. Yet there was sharp criticism as well. In answer to those who questioned the sincerity of his lyric and his reference to God, Berlin had this to say: “ ‘God Bless America’ is a patriotic song written so it can be sung and understood by everyone. It is not a hymn or an anthem. It is just a song. What’s wrong with a patriotic song?” Berlin’s response was simple and eloquent: “All that I hope for ‘God Bless America,’” he told the New York Herald-Tribune (October 10, 1940), “is that it will continue to be popular, especially in these days when so many people feel a need for some vocal expression of their patriotism.” The tremendous success and popularity of the song led to some unanticipated controversy. In the summer of 1940, both major national parties sought to appropriate it for their conventions. In a July 16, 1940, letter to W. F. Maloney, an official of the Democratic Party, Berlin wrote:

“In reply to your inquiry, no political party has the exclusive rights to the song ‘God Bless America’. In our grant to the Republican Party Campaign Committee for Wendell L. Wilkie [sic] we specifically mentioned the fact that we could not give the exclusive rights to any political party to a song that is so obviously for all Americans.” Many Americans, in fact, found the song so powerful and compelling that they lobbied for it to replace “The Star-Spangled Banner” as the United States national anthem. In an August 16, 1943, letter to the well-known author Dale Carnegie, Berlin wrote: “I think it would be a mistake to suggest changing our National Anthem. I am, of course, touched and flattered that you think so highly of ‘God Bless America’ but in my opinion, the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ cannot be replaced.

Berlin also offered a more detailed response to those who wish to make the song our national anthem. He said: “A national anthem is something that develops naturally through age, tradition, historic significance, and general recognition. There is no such thing as a new national anthem. We can’t legislate one. They arise alone and stand the test of time. We’ve got a good national anthem. You can’t have two.” In 1940 Berlin established the God Bless America Fund, a trust that over the years has turned all income for the song over to the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. As the years passed, “God Bless America,” despite the objections of its creator, became our unofficial de facto national anthem.

Of course, there were notable recordings, none more impressive than those by Kate Smith, who also sang it thrillingly in the 1943 film version of This Is the Army. Deanna Durbin sang it in the 1943 film Hers to Hold; and the great opera singer Lotte Lehmann and a young Marni Nixon, dubbing for Margaret O’Brien, sang it in the 1948 film Big City. For many years a Kate Smith recording was played at Philadelphia Flyers hockey games, and for especially key contests Smith was on hand to sing it in person. Berlin himself sang it on television in 1968 during an eightieth birthday tribute presented on The Ed Sullivan Show and sang it again, most movingly, at the White House in 1974 in honor of returning Vietnam War prisoners. It was his last public appearance.

Ever since 1913, the United States of America has been captive to an unconstitutional and immoral institution known as the Federal Reserve. The U.S. government is forbidden from counterfeiting money, so they outsourced it to a “private” cartel of banks. This is similar to how the government outsources censorship to “private” social media companies. Ever since 1913, the Fed has destroyed the value of the dollar, along with the U.S. economy; and it has financed endless wars and debts that cannot be honored.
