Mr. Anonymous writes,
After maintaining an unbroken record so far of not wearing a mandated mask, I had to attend a court hearing this morning, as part of my … job. I decided to mask up for two reasons: 1) I just wanted to get in and out pdq, without spending any time or effort dealing with possibly hostile armed deputies, and 2) municipal court has always been a petri dish of unknown, unknowable and unspeakable public filth, since long before the kungflu (I probably should have worn a mask during past court appearances).
Naturally–it being court and all–there was lots of waiting. I sat down with a paper procedure mask on, fit as loosely on my face as possible. After less than five minutes, I could feel my heart speeding up and beginning to pound just like it used to during a hard 5 mile run back in my younger days. I lowered the mask from my nose to re-oxygenate. I was surprised at how little time it had taken to go into oxygen debt just sitting there. My nose remained exposed from them on. I was not surprised to watch the court reporter repeatedly expose hers.
And we’re told to do this for our health?! I’m more committed than ever to masklessness.
Alas, Our Rulers are more committed than ever to masks. But what else would we expect from the toxic political class?
